LAWS OF DUPLICATE CONTRACT BRIDGE - 1997 EDITION

The new Laws came into effect on September 1, 1997 in the CACBF. This date is within the guidelines set out by the WBF and was agreed upon at the AGM of the CACBF in Panama in June/97.

Within the Laws as produced by the WBF Laws Commission, Zonal and sponsoring organizations are given certain options. The following hold true in bridge held under the auspices of the CACBF - Zone 5 of the WBF :

DEFINITIONS

ALERT

When screens are in use, a player alerts the opponent on their side of the screen by touching the call with the Alert card. Without screens, the player only alerts their partner's calls and does so by removing the Alert card from the bidding box and placing it in clear view of both opponents.

SESSION

Each event, that is run under the Laws, must define the number of boards that are scheduled to be played in the session.
